This week’s show is a brief look at some of the most compelling portions of the recently released Rise of Skywalker Visual Dictionary. It opens with a few minutes on the history and purpose of Star Wars visual dictionaries before focusing on the book’s info on Exegol, the Sith Eternal, Lando and Jannah, Ochi of Bestoon, and more.
This episode features the second half of our conversation last week (too big to be contained in just one show!). We begin by discussing the lack of Rose Tico in TROS products and promotion before looking at the publishing announcements from NYCC 2019. We wrap the show up with some talk of the Kevin Feige news and what it may mean for the future of the Star Wars films.
News for this week’s show includes the launch of Star Wars Roll Out, John’s thoughts on the recently released Star Wars: Myths and Fables, Ryan’s review of the Age of Resistance special, and a rumored rerelease of all 10 saga films on blu ray this fall. We discuss all of The Phantom Menace‘s deleted scenes for our primary topic this week in the back half of the episode.
Unfortunately we have some sound quality issues on this episode that we’re not able to correct in post-production. It’s listenable, but not representative of the usual sound quality level of the show. Next week should be back to normal.
This week’s episode features a look back at the first issue of Star Wars Insider magazine published in fall of 1994. We discuss the early years of the magazine and its transition from the Lucasfilm Fan Club Magazine, some of our favorite merch in the Jawa Trader, and the qualities of the rare metal known as “pewter.”
This year’s San Diego Comic Con didn’t feature a Rise of Skywalker panel, but there still ended up being quite a few fun Star Wars panels and announcements coming out of the show. We open up the show with some discussion of the Lucas Museum of Narrative Arts panel and Kevin Smith’s story about a mysterious Episode IX set before spending the remainder of the episode breaking down the Hasbro and publishing panels.
Not gonna lie, this episode ended up being a nightmare to finish and publish due to some unfortunate technology mishaps and as a result the sound had to be pulled straight from the Skype recording. The quality if noticeably lower than usual, but also still fine (in my opinion). Next week’s episode should be back to our normal sound quality. Oh, and video is back too if you prefer to watch/listen through YouTube.
John, Chris, Ryan, and Dan once again convene in our spacious Air BNB studio to discuss highlights from Saturday and Sunday at Celebration 2019. We talk books, comics, Star Wars Archives, and most importantly, the incredible Mandalorian panel.
This week’s episode features an interview with Alex Kane, author of the upcoming book Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. Ryan talks to Alex about KOTOR, the book, and Alex’s other writing on games in the show’s first segment. John joins for the second half of the show to talk with Ryan about how much he enjoyed the book (even though he’s never played the game), the impact of KOTOR on Star Wars culture, and the potential influence of the game on rumored upcoming films or other media set in the Old Republic era.
We kick the show off by breaking down the recent panel lottery and reservations system announcements for Star Wars Celebration before jumping into our discussion of the Resistance two-part finale, “No Escape.”
We kick off the show by covering the recent Episode IX panel announcement for Star Wars Celebration 2019 before jumping into our featured discussion on E.K. Johnston’s Padme novel Queen’s Shadow. If you haven’t read the book yet, we discuss it in broad terms before jumping into spoilers, so you’re save for the first part.
Our recording session this week went too long again, so we’re splitting it up into two episodes, the first of which features our discussion of the Episode IX footage shown at the Disney shareholder’s meeting earlier this week. Shout out to newly minted RESISTANCE HERO @Ladewig for his tweets that made the pain of having to wait until Celebration Chicago to see any footage sting just a little bit less. We wrap this first episode with Ryan’s endorsement of Queen’s Shadow.
Tune in later this week for our discussion of the most recent episodes of Resistance and don’t forget that the audio podcast features chapter markers if you want to skip to a specific section. As always, we welcome feedback at blockaderunnerpodcast@gmail.com or on Twitter at @blockaderun.
