A Blockade Runner Halloween 2018 – The Blockade Runner Podcast #80

BR 80 Cover

We get into the spooky spirit of Halloween this week by taking a look at the first four issues of IDW’s Tales From Vader’s Castle series in the first portion of this Halloween-themed episode. The back half of the show features a discussion of the similarities between The Force Awakens and this year’s new Halloween film, both of which walk the line between sequel, reboot, and reimagining (and are both really, really great).

Wendig Wednesday – The Blockade Runner Podcast #79

BR 79 Cover

This week’s episode is all about Star Wars novel and comic author Chuck Wendig, his work, and Marvel’s choice to fire him last week. We spend at least the first half of the episode discussing Marvel’s call to remove Chuck from the Star Wars books he was working on “for having a mind of his own,” and we’re not happy about it. We felt it was important to address and we wanted to voice our support for Chuck who we believe is responsible not only for some excellent Star Wars stories, but for speaking up against injustice and being unafraid to take a stand on important issues regardless of the fallout. The final portion of the show features a discussion of Chuck’s Star Wars work and the contributions he’s made to the property.

Resistance Premieres! – The Blockade Runner Podcast #78

BR 78 Cover

This week’s episode is all about the premiere episode(s) of Star Wars Resistance. Ryan and John discuss “The Recruit,” “Triple Dark,” and “Fuel for the Fire,” all of which are live on the Disney Now app. Our discussion primarily focuses on the characters, visuals, and tone of the show, so the “spoilers” are minimal (though you may still want to wait to listen until you’ve seen all three episodes). We also talk about the show’s potential, what we’d like to see from it going forward, blue snaggletooths, and why Resistance would make is the perfect property for new Star Wars video games!
