Ryan and Lindsey walk through their virtual life in The Sims 4: Journey to Batuu. They provide an overview of the Sims series history and gameplay before detailing the unique Star Wars experiences in store in this expansion game pack.
Ryan and John discuss The Bad Batch announcement, some light speculation regarding what we’d like to see in future Solo-related projects, the latest Hasbro toy reveals, and Ryan’s initial impressions of the Dr. Aphra audio drama.
Ryan is back after taking a bit of a hiatus from both Star Wars and the podcast. We catch up on where he’s at with Star Wars overall before jumping into Clone Wars season 7, recent comics, and both the TROS digital release and novelization. In the second half of the show we discuss the impact COVID-19 may have on the High Republic, Celebration, Galaxy’s Edge, and upcoming Disney+ shows.
News for this week’s show includes the launch of Star Wars Roll Out, John’s thoughts on the recently released Star Wars: Myths and Fables, Ryan’s review of the Age of Resistance special, and a rumored rerelease of all 10 saga films on blu ray this fall. We discuss all of The Phantom Menace‘s deleted scenes for our primary topic this week in the back half of the episode.
Unfortunately we have some sound quality issues on this episode that we’re not able to correct in post-production. It’s listenable, but not representative of the usual sound quality level of the show. Next week should be back to normal.
We kick this week’s show off with some follow up on our Galaxy’s Edge episode via some comments from our friend Jake and a look at Abigail Disney’s criticism of the company’s treatment of its park employees. The rest of the show is all about the recently-unveiled Sith troopers! We discuss the look, but more importantly, the name of these crimson villains and speculate about how they might fit into The Rise of Skywalker and exactly which Sith they may be working for…
For those who watch the show on YouTube, we’re experimenting with Google Hangouts alternatives (because Google is killing that platform at the end of this month) and unfortunately our first try didn’t work out. We’ll still post the audio to YouTube, but it’ll just be a static image for this week. Hopefully we’ll get the video side of things worked out for episode 114.
This week’s episode focuses entirely on Galaxy’s Edge (which is kind of weird since neither of us have been there), including what the numbers are saying about how popular the park and its merchandise are and how some bogus visitors are ripping stuff off and trying to sell it online. The second half of the show features a look at the first three issues of Marvel’s Galaxy’s Edge tie-in book and our thoughts on what we’d like to see from future tie-in material.
Our recording session this week went too long again, so we’re splitting it up into two episodes, the first of which features our discussion of the Episode IX footage shown at the Disney shareholder’s meeting earlier this week. Shout out to newly minted RESISTANCE HERO @Ladewig for his tweets that made the pain of having to wait until Celebration Chicago to see any footage sting just a little bit less. We wrap this first episode with Ryan’s endorsement of Queen’s Shadow.
Tune in later this week for our discussion of the most recent episodes of Resistance and don’t forget that the audio podcast features chapter markers if you want to skip to a specific section. As always, we welcome feedback at blockaderunnerpodcast@gmail.com or on Twitter at @blockaderun.
We start this week’s episode out by sharing our appreciation for Topher Grace and Jeff Yorke’s Star Wars: Alwaysbefore moving onto breaking down last week’s Galaxy’s Edge impressions and updates (via Anthony Breznican and EW). We wrap up this (long) show by discussing the recent panels and guests announced for Star Wars Celebration Chicago.
Also, John takes a weird heel turn during our discussion of Galaxy’s Edge selling generic Jedi robes. Sorry about that.
Don’t forget that the audio podcast features chapter markers if you want to skip to a specific section and as always, we welcome feedback at blockaderunnerpodcast@gmail.com or on Twitter at @blockaderun.
We start this week’s show off with some chat about recent tweets signaling an end to Episode IX’s filming, a discussion of the just-announced Galaxy’s Edge books coming later this year, and a voicemail from The Rural Farmboy (@aRuralFarmboy). The rest of the show is devoted to an in-depth look at Electronic Arts’s exclusive deal for publishing Star Wars games. We run through the history of EA’s Star Wars releases (and cancellations) and lament the unreleased games and missed opportunities (seriously, no Nintendo Switch games?) that are part of the EA-era.
Ryan is back from Japan and we open this week’s episode with a bit of chat about the Japanese Star Wars collectibles scene. From there we turn to some comics, Galaxy’s Edge, and Episode IX news before jumping into our break down of the recently released Age of Republic series from Marvel. We wrap up the show with Ryan’s endorsement of the Flight of the Falcon book series and our Episode IXReturn of the Jedi 2 title predictions.
