Ryan and John return from a holiday hiatus to discuss our Star Wars highlights from 2022 including Obi-Wan Kenobi, Andor, Star Wars Celebration Anaheim, and much more.
This week’s episode features our commentary on many smaller developments and news items in the world of Star Wars including Amy Hennig’s recently announced Star Wars game, Natalie Holt composing the score for Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Ewan McGregor, Kelly Marie Tran, and Billie Lourd coming to Star Wars Celebration Anaheim.
Taking inspiration from The Book of Boba Fett’s westerns influence, Ryan and John discuss chapter 7 through a “the good, the bad, and the ugly” framework. We spend the most time on the parts we enjoyed, but also acknowledge some of the episode’s weaker points as well as we wrap up our look at each chapter of the show.
Brandon Wainerdi from the fantastic Talking Bay 94 podcast joins us to break down The Book of Boba Fett Chapter 6: “From the Desert Comes a Stranger.” We discuss the many surprising character appearances, the conflict between attachment and creed, the deep fake of it all, and of course our predictions for next week’s finale.
Ryan and John cover a few quick Star Wars news stories including Dr. Aphra‘s GLAAD award, the troubling news about the development of Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, and a new casting reveal for Ahsoka. They devote the rest of the show to discussing The Book of Boba Fett Chapter 4, “The Gathering Storm.”
We open this week’s episode with a quick run down of the Star Wars books and comics Ryan’s been reading before spending the rest of the episode breaking down chapter 3 of The Book of Boba Fett.
Apologies for John’s echoey audio; my mic settings were off and my normally aggressively average audio quality is lower than usual this week.
We open this week’s episode by running through the recent High Republic Phase 2 announcements before spending the rest of the show gushing over how much we loved The Book of Boba Fett Chapter 2.
After sharing a few Star Wars-related holiday highlights, we devote the entirety of this episode to discussing our initial thoughts and impressions of “Stranger in a Strange Land,” the debut chapter of The Book of Boba Fett.
In our final episode before The Book of Boba Fett debuts, Ryan and John discuss the progress of the #BlackoutStarWarsEclipse movement, Book of Boba Fett news (including the revelation that the trailers only show footage from the first half of the first episode), and a new Han and Chewie series from Marvel. We finish up the show proper with John’s early impressions of Tales From The Galaxy’s Edge.
After we sign off, we include a Spider-Man: No Way Home *spoiler-filled* discussion so be sure to avoid that if you haven’t yet seen the film.
