In this final episode before Star Wars Celebration 2022, Ryan and John spend the bulk of this one discussing the future of Star Wars Disney+ shows through the lens of Anthony Breznican’s “The Rebellion Will Be Televised” article for Vanity Fair. We close out the show with some Republic Commando impressions and our plans for Celebration.
In our final episode before The Book of Boba Fett debuts, Ryan and John discuss the progress of the #BlackoutStarWarsEclipse movement, Book of Boba Fett news (including the revelation that the trailers only show footage from the first half of the first episode), and a new Han and Chewie series from Marvel. We finish up the show proper with John’s early impressions of Tales From The Galaxy’s Edge.
After we sign off, we include a Spider-Man: No Way Home *spoiler-filled* discussion so be sure to avoid that if you haven’t yet seen the film.
Ryan and John discuss their favorite moments of the new Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian episode covering Luke Skywalker’s return as well as Robert Rodriguez’s excitement for The Book of Boba Fett and Thandie Newton’s dissapointment about Val’s death in Solo: A Star Wars Story.
We’re back after a one week break with a look at recent Star Wars news including interviews with Leslye Headland on The Acolyte and Emilia Clarke on further developing Qi’ra, plus the return of IDW’s Vader’s Castle series. From there we dig into the last two Bad Batch episodes, “Reunion” and “Bounty Lost.”
This week’s episode features our takes on the upcoming Kevin Fiege/Michael Waldron Star Wars film and that big character return in the comics, a discussion of which Star Wars film to start with with someone who’s never seen a Star War, and our look at Bad Batch episode 5, “Decomissioned.”
John and Ryan discuss their evolving opinions of Solo after each saw it for a third time this weekend. Then share our favorite parts of Pablo Hidalgo’s Solo: A Star Wars Story – The Official Guide book.
We’ve posted two Solo reactions shows this week, both linked below.
Solo: Immediate First Reactions:
The first features our immediate reactions after seeing the movie on opening night. All of the Blockade Runners located here in Illinois headed out to a local bar after seeing the movie and recorded our first impressions.
Ryan joins John to discuss his feelings about Solo after two viewings. We go through Ryan’s highs and lows and find some common ground between our two pretty different takes on the movie. Ryan also shares his Alamo Drafthouse screening of Solo and his run through the Millennium Falcon Experience.
This episode features two separate conversations with a few different members of the Blockade Runner crew. First up, Kevin and John discuss the recently released Solo TV spots as well as two short scenes from the film shown on Jimmy KimmelLive. Ryan and John follow that up with some discussion of Poe Dameron #26 which features the first post-TLJ storytelling we’re aware of from Lucasfilm. We also briefly touch on Star Wars Adventures and some other Star Wars publishing as we ride out the last couple of week’s waiting for Solo: A Star Wars Story to release.
Ryan and John discuss our favorite moments from the “Crew” and “Risk” Solo tv spots. After that, we chronicle our slow-to-start but strong-to-finish #WookieWeekend and the Solo 3.75″ toys we were able to grab. Finally, we chat a bit about Denny’s and Last Shot. Join us if you’re stoked for Solo!
Our two-part Solo teaser reactions episode features an initial discussion of the trailers with Kevin and John before Ryan and John jump into a lengthier moment-by-moment look at the footage. Join us as we get into the look, tone, and feel of the first Solo footage (and repeatedly swoon over Donald Glover’s incredible transformation into Lando!)
