This week’s episode is a little shorter (at least for us). We cover The Mandalorian’s Golden Globes nomination before chatting about some recent toy acquistions, the Star Wars Rebels premier episode, and a quick preview of the new YA High Republic novel Into the Dark.
Ryan and John discuss The Bad Batch announcement, some light speculation regarding what we’d like to see in future Solo-related projects, the latest Hasbro toy reveals, and Ryan’s initial impressions of the Dr. Aphra audio drama.
Ryan and John finally find the opportunity to discuss the final episode of Clone Wars as well as the first three episodes of Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian. We take a look at our favorite moments from both (including a bit of a detour in response to Dave Filoni’s monologue re: the importance of the conclusions of TPM and RotJ) before closing the show with even more Mandalorian season two casting rumors.
This episode features a look at the many Star Wars announcements and updates that happened this past week in celebration of Star Wars Day. We devote the most time to looking at the rumor of Temura Morrison returning to Star Wars and the question of whether or not Lucasfilm is creating a troubling trend of reviving once dead characters, but also tackle the Taika Waititi and Leslye Headland announcements as well as video game, book, and Mandalorian season two news.
Ryan and John celebrate fabled holiday Star Wars Day Eve by catching up on a few updates on Dr. Aphra, Cassian Andor, and a new show for Disney Plus before discussing the first three episodes of The Siege of Mandalore arc of The Clone Wars.
Star Wars Resistance ended on a high note last week with the excellent two-part episode “The Escape.” Friend of the show Caleb joins John to show some love to the often overlooked Resistance, take a quick look back at season two, and break down this final episode’s best moments. We also look forward to Clone Wars season 7 and the future of Star Wars animation to round out the episode.
This week’s show is all about comics and cartoons! For the comics side of things, we run down the Marvel Star Wars news coming out of NYCC 2019, take a look at some recently announced Star Wars manga, and share our thoughts on the first two Return to Vader’s Castle issues from IDW as well as Star Wars: Allegiances #1 from Marvel. The second half of the show is devoted to discussing the first two episodes of Star Wars Resistance‘s final season before we wrap with a few minutes on Freddie Prinze Jr.’s recent (brilliant) viral monologue.
Day 1 at D23 2019 was absolutely packed with exciting Star Wars content and announcements! We discuss it all in detail including Clone Wars season 7, the Cassian/K2 show, The Mandalorian trailer, and of course the Kenobi announcement we’ve been theorizing about for years.
After what has felt like a considerable draught in major Star Wars news this summer, this week’s show is packed with rumors and speculation about The Rise of Skywalker, Rian Johnson’s upcoming Star Wars film series, a possible (likely?) return to the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi for Ewan McGregor in a Disney + series, and our reactions to the Star Wars Resistance season two trailer. So much to cover and quite a lot to say about each topic in this extra-large episode of the Blockade Runner Podcast.
Ryan’s audio this week is coming from Skype as his local recording malfunctioned, so if you notice that it sounds a little off, that’s why and we’re working on it and will hopefully have things back to normal next week.
Ryan and John look back at episodes 14 through 19 of Star Wars Resistance season one and share a few predictions for season two. Also, more Sad Kylo Ren talk.
