Ryan and John spend most of this episode discussing the exciting Star Wars movie news coming out of Celebration 2023. We break down what we’d like to see in Rey’s next adventure, why we’re excited for James Mangold’s Jedi-origins film, Dave Filoni’s Mandoverse movie, and more.
This episode features the first portion of a lengthy discussion we recorded this week that got a little bit away from us in terms of length, so we’re splitting it into two episodes. This first one features our Triple Force Friday recap including our experiences going out looking for product, our impression of the merchandise we found, and some of the problems we see with quality, promotion, and distribution.
We’ll be back later in the week with the rest of our chat covering #Where’sRose, Kevin Feige’s announced Star Wars movie, and the Star Wars book announcements from NYCC 2019.
This week’s episode is news heavy again as we discuss Deborah Chow directing the Obi-Wan show, the TROS issue of Empire Magazine, and the (official this time) Triple Force Friday reveals and livestream. We also talk a little bit about Babu Frick, but somehow we forgot to bring up the week’s biggest story: Kevin Fiege producing a future Star Wars film. Whoops.
Triple Force Friday is less than two weeks away, and even though we haven’t really had any official announcements about what’s being released for the event, we spend two hours talking about all of the toys that have leaked so far (pretty much all of them).
My son Owen (the star of most of the above photos) and I were lucky enough to attend Joliet, Illinois’s 7th Annual Star Wars Day yesterday. The event, hosted by the Joliet Public Library, featured the 501st Legion and the Rebel Legion alongside a slew of exhibitors, artists, and vendors (including John Jackson Miller and a live Rebel Force Radio podcast). The event spanned two floors of Joliet’s downtown library, but there were also games, food vendors, and live music on the blocked-off surrounding streets outside the building. Joliet Star Wars Day is free and a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a micro Star Wars Celebration style event, so if you live in the Chicago area or within a reasonable driving distance, I would definitely recommend checking out the event next year.
