Join John and Ryan as they discuss the shocking news that Phil Lord and Chris Miller are leaving the Han Solo standalone as well as the apparent difficulty in finding the right creative leadership and vibe for Star Wars movies that aren’t quite Star Wars movies.
Blockade Runner Chris is NOT a fan of Rogue One, and he’s about the only huge Star Wars fan I know that feels that way, so we devoted this episode to digging into why he doesn’t love the movie. We argue quite a bit, and listening back I realized that at times I fell into the trap of trying to convince someone to like something they just don’t (not usually the best idea), but we also spend a lot of time analyzing the choices made by the Gareth Edwards and Lucasfilm and I think it’s a pretty compelling discussion. Plus, Chris and I have been having arguments like this for 20 years and we’re going to keep having them for a long, long time to come. Enjoy (regardless of which side of the argument you come down on)!
Kevin, Chris, Dan, and John get together to discuss Luke Skywalker’s future in The Last Jedi and beyond. We consider a compelling Dave Filoni quote from the Rebels season four panel from Star Wars Celebration Orlando (courtesy of the fantastic Steele Wars podcast) as well as an excerpt from Brian Jay Jones’s George Lucas: A Life book for some support while exploring just who Luke could and should be in the sequel trilogy. Will he truly end the Jedi order? Is there any possibility of a dark side turn? Join us as we dig into anticipating the return of Star Wars’s greatest hero!
Ryan and John discuss the news coming out of Star Wars Celebration Orlando for the upcoming Star Wars Battlefront 2. We dive into the single-player campaign, updates to the multiplayer modes (and more) before taking a quick look at Rey’s just-announced Last Jedi dlc outfit.

We gave Google Hangouts on Air a try for this episode and it was a lot of fun for us. We’ll keep working on this as a possible method of recording shows; incorporating chat and scheduling recordings ahead of time so listeners can watch live are nice perks, plus we get to see each other’s dumb faces while we record. Audio quality leaves a bit to be desired though, so I’ll be looking to improve that going forward. Let us know what you think about the Hangouts thing using any of the social media links below!
