Triple Force Friday is less than two weeks away, and even though we haven’t really had any official announcements about what’s being released for the event, we spend two hours talking about all of the toys that have leaked so far (pretty much all of them).
This week’s episode features a look back at the first issue of Star Wars Insider magazine published in fall of 1994. We discuss the early years of the magazine and its transition from the Lucasfilm Fan Club Magazine, some of our favorite merch in the Jawa Trader, and the qualities of the rare metal known as “pewter.”
This year’s San Diego Comic Con didn’t feature a Rise of Skywalker panel, but there still ended up being quite a few fun Star Wars panels and announcements coming out of the show. We open up the show with some discussion of the Lucas Museum of Narrative Arts panel and Kevin Smith’s story about a mysterious Episode IX set before spending the remainder of the episode breaking down the Hasbro and publishing panels.
Not gonna lie, this episode ended up being a nightmare to finish and publish due to some unfortunate technology mishaps and as a result the sound had to be pulled straight from the Skype recording. The quality if noticeably lower than usual, but also still fine (in my opinion). Next week’s episode should be back to our normal sound quality. Oh, and video is back too if you prefer to watch/listen through YouTube.
We’re back with part two of our discussion of all things Star Wars in 1997. Episode #91 features our look back at the books and toys released in ’97 as well as notable events like the founding of the 501st and the debut of the Star Wars: The Magic of Myth museum exhibit (plus some pretty sweet Taco Bell ads in the audio podcast).
Don’t forget that the audio podcast features chapter markers if you want to skip to a specific section and as always, you can share your favorite Star Wars memories from ’97 or any Star Wars feedback by sending us a message at firstname.lastname@example.org or on Twitter at @blockaderun.
It’s not a title, but the news that Episode IX has wrapped filming is super-exciting nonetheless. We spend the first half of the show discussing J.J.’s tweet and photo before looking at the many Star Wars announcements coming out of NY Toy Fair 2019.
Resistance is back from it’s mid-season hiatus and Ryan is all caught up after taking a bit of a break from the show himself, so we’ve dedicated this episode to reviewing and discussing the show from episode #5 (“The High Tower”) all the way through the most recent episode, #13 (“Dangerous Business”). We also chat about the mid-season trailer, “Buff Salacious Crumb,” Resistance toys and our frustration with the difficulty of tracking down 3.75″ figures lately, and DIY movie poster light boxes.
Ryan is back from Japan and we open this week’s episode with a bit of chat about the Japanese Star Wars collectibles scene. From there we turn to some comics, Galaxy’s Edge, and Episode IX news before jumping into our break down of the recently released Age of Republic series from Marvel. We wrap up the show with Ryan’s endorsement of the Flight of the Falcon book series and our Episode IXReturn of the Jedi 2 title predictions.
Join us for our latest Power of the 90s episode devoted to discussing all of the Star Wars books, comics, toys, and content released in 1996. Well, everything besides one notable giant multimedia project spanning all of those mediums that we’ll cover on our next episode (yes, it features Prince Xizor, Dash Rendar, IG-88, and a whole lot of pheromones).
Ryan and John discuss our favorite moments from the “Crew” and “Risk” Solo tv spots. After that, we chronicle our slow-to-start but strong-to-finish #WookieWeekend and the Solo 3.75″ toys we were able to grab. Finally, we chat a bit about Denny’s and Last Shot. Join us if you’re stoked for Solo!
