We start this week’s show off with some chat about recent tweets signaling an end to Episode IX’s filming, a discussion of the just-announced Galaxy’s Edge books coming later this year, and a voicemail from The Rural Farmboy (@aRuralFarmboy). The rest of the show is devoted to an in-depth look at Electronic Arts’s exclusive deal for publishing Star Wars games. We run through the history of EA’s Star Wars releases (and cancellations) and lament the unreleased games and missed opportunities (seriously, no Nintendo Switch games?) that are part of the EA-era.

Early TFA Concept Art & Episode IX – The Blockade Runner Podcast #84

John does a brief solo show covering possible links between TFA‘s early concept art and Episode IX for our final episode of 2018. We’re mostly just using Peter Sciretta’s Twitter comments from a few days ago as an excuse to pull down and pour over Phil Szostak’s incredible Art Of books for The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi. Follow along if you have the books (or check out the images in the video version), and if you don’t, definitely pick them up if you can – they are must have resources for sequel trilogy fans, no doubt. Wendig Wednesday – The Blockade Runner Podcast #79

This week’s episode is all about Star Wars novel and comic author Chuck Wendig, his work, and Marvel’s choice to fire him last week. We spend at least the first half of the episode discussing Marvel’s call to remove Chuck from the Star Wars books he was working on “for having a mind of his own,” and we’re not happy about it. We felt it was important to address and we wanted to voice our support for Chuck who we believe is responsible not only for some excellent Star Wars stories, but for speaking up against injustice and being unafraid to take a stand on important issues regardless of the fallout. The final portion of the show features a discussion of Chuck’s Star Wars work and the contributions he’s made to the property.
