We kick off the show by covering the recent Episode IX panel announcement for Star Wars Celebration 2019 before jumping into our featured discussion on E.K. Johnston’s Padme novel Queen’s Shadow. If you haven’t read the book yet, we discuss it in broad terms before jumping into spoilers, so you’re save for the first part.
Our recording session this week went too long again, so we’re splitting it up into two episodes, the first of which features our discussion of the Episode IX footage shown at the Disney shareholder’s meeting earlier this week. Shout out to newly minted RESISTANCE HERO @Ladewig for his tweets that made the pain of having to wait until Celebration Chicago to see any footage sting just a little bit less. We wrap this first episode with Ryan’s endorsement of Queen’s Shadow.
Tune in later this week for our discussion of the most recent episodes of Resistance and don’t forget that the audio podcast features chapter markers if you want to skip to a specific section. As always, we welcome feedback at blockaderunnerpodcast@gmail.com or on Twitter at @blockaderun.
It’s not a title, but the news that Episode IX has wrapped filming is super-exciting nonetheless. We spend the first half of the show discussing J.J.’s tweet and photo before looking at the many Star Wars announcements coming out of NY Toy Fair 2019.
Ryan is back from Japan and we open this week’s episode with a bit of chat about the Japanese Star Wars collectibles scene. From there we turn to some comics, Galaxy’s Edge, and Episode IX news before jumping into our break down of the recently released Age of Republic series from Marvel. We wrap up the show with Ryan’s endorsement of the Flight of the Falcon book series and our Episode IXReturn of the Jedi 2 title predictions.
John does a brief solo show covering possible links between TFA‘s early concept art and Episode IX for our final episode of 2018. We’re mostly just using Peter Sciretta’s Twitter comments from a few days ago as an excuse to pull down and pour over Phil Szostak’s incredible Art Of books for The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi. Follow along if you have the books (or check out the images in the video version), and if you don’t, definitely pick them up if you can – they are must have resources for sequel trilogy fans, no doubt. Thanks for watching or listening in 2018 and here’s to what will undoubtedly be an unbelievable 2019 for Star Wars fans!
Star Wars Resistance debuts in just under a month and Ryan and John discuss the upcoming animated series in-depth for the first time on this episode. We share our thoughts on the trailer, premise, look, and characters for the show this week after chatting about a few Episode IX updates and Rian Johnson’s upcoming non-Star Wars movie Knives Out.
We celebrate Episode IX’s first day of shooting (today!) by breaking down last week’s wonderful cast announcement press release. We share our thoughts on the returning cast, the newly announced actors joining the fold, and J.J. and Lucasfilm’s beautiful statement and plan for including Carrie Fisher and Princess Leia in the final installment of the Skywalker Saga.
